- Psalm 107:28-30, “Then they cry out to the Lord in their trouble, and He brings them out of their distresses. He calms the storm, so that its waves are still. Then they are glad because they are quiet; so He guides them to their desired haven.” (Amp. Bible)
- Isaiah 61:1, “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed and qualified me to preach the Gospel of good tidings to the meek, the poor, and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up and heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and opening of the prison doors to those who are bound.”
Statement of Faith
Inerrancy of Holy Scriptures
The holy scriptures as recorded in the Bible are the inspired Word of God. They are an infallible source of revelation from God to man; and are provided for guidance in matters of Christian faith, doctrine, practice, and living. They may not be added to or subtracted from. II Timothy 3:15-16; I Peter 2:2; II Peter 1:21.
The Triune Godhead
As attested by scripture, there is one true God revealed as eternally self-existent and “The Great I Am”; Jehovah. He has further revealed Himself as God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Exodus 3:14-15; Deut. 6:4; Isaiah 43:10-11; Isaiah 48:16; Matthew 28:19; Mark 12:29; Luke 3:22
The Person of Jesus Christ
Our Lord, Jesus Christ, is the second person of the triune deity of God. He was born of a virgin and was at the same time fully God and fully man. As such He is co-equal and co-existent with God; the same yesterday, today, and forever. He was crucified innocent for the sins of mankind and buried dead. He arose from the grave, ascended to heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father, making intercession as our heavenly Priest and Mediator. He was and is and is to come. John 1:1-5; Hebrews 1:1-3; Rev. 1:12-18.
The Person of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the triune Godhead. He is God’s active agent throughout the earth for conviction of sin unto repentance and salvation, counseling, comforting, teaching, and encouraging believers, and equipping believers for effective ministry. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is given as a second work of grace for the empowerment of the church to witness and minister (Act 1:8). It is a free gift for all believers who seek it. The evidence of the in-filling is the gift of heavenly language (i.e. tongues).
Gifts of the Holy Spirit
Various gifts have been bestowed by the triune Godhead to Christians and the church for the advancement of God’s Kingdom on the earth: Gifts of the Father (Romans 12:6-8); Gifts of the Son (Ephesians 4:11); and Gifts of the Holy Spirit (I Cor. 12:8-10).
Salvation and the New Birth
Established upon the grace of God to bring salvation, and the preaching of repentance to God and faith in Jesus Christ, the process of the “new birth” (John 3:3-7) is accomplished. Being justified through faith, we become heirs of God and have eternal life according to Rom 10:8-10; 11-17.
The Church
The church is the Body of Christ (Eph. 1:22-23) and the habitation of God on earth by the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:40-47). It is charged with fulfilling the great commission (Matt. 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-18). Its membership is comprised of all whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. It’s ministry is the ministry of reconciliation ( II Cor. 5:18-20) and preaching the Gospel (II Tim. 4:2). Its offices are the five-fold ministry of Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher (Eph. 4:11-12). Its ordinances are water baptism by immersion and celebration of the Lord’s Supper.
Spiritual Warfare
Scriptures state that from the time of John the Baptist the warfare has been very intense and we achieve victory only by forcefully advancing as the church (Matt. 11:12). Christians are combatants in a conflict between good and evil, light and darkness, and God and the devil.
Healing and Sanctification
By faith in God we can receive healing—physical, inner healing, and deliverance—provided for in the atoning work of Jesus Christ (Is. 53:4; Matt. 8:16-17). Our progressive healing and cleansing leads us into increasing measures of sanctification.
End-time Doctrine
We believe regarding “last things” related to the church:
The spirit of the Antichrist will arise (Rev. 13:1-8); the church/Christians will be raptured (I Thess. 4:16-18); there will be a time of great tribulation on earth (Matt. 24:15-28); national Israel will be restored (Jer. 31:31-37; Rom. 11:26); Jesus Christ will return to earth (Rev. 19:11-16); Jesus will defeat the forces of Satan, bind him for a thousand years and establish a millennial reign on earth (Rev. 19:17-21; 20:1-6); Satan will lead a last rebellion, be defeated and cast into the lake of fire along with the beast and the false prophet (Rev. 20:7-10); there will be a final “white throne” judgment (Rev. 20:11-15); there will be the establishment of a new heaven and a new earth (Rev. 21:1-4); believers shall dwell in the New Jerusalem with God (Rev. 21:3, 9-27) and those not found named in the Lamb’s Book of Life will be cast into the lake of fire (Rev. 20:15).
Regarding the rapture, we adhere to a belief in a “pre-wrath rapture” prior to the Day of the Lord (Matt. 24:29-31) and wrath poured out upon the earth. This would position Christians alive in that time to experience half the years of tribulation.
